Cherries defender Nathan Ake has been named the Daily Echo/Micky Cave supporters’ player of the year, winning over 80% of the vote.

The Dutchman has been ever present for the Dorset club this season, and comfortably held off competition from Lewis Cook and Ryan Fraser to be honoured with the accolade.

After his £20 million switch from Chelsea in the summer, Ake has been consistently voted as a standout performer throughout the Cherries’ third consecutive campaign in the Premier League.

The 23-year-old also won the April player of the month award, having claimed 50% of supporters’ votes. Ake featured in all four Premier League games last month, and was nominated alongside recent England international Lewis Cook (30%) and Asmir Begovic (15%).

The award is now Ake’s seventh of the season, with the Dutch international having won in all but two months.
