Who could be in and out of AFC Bournemouth during the January transfer window?

January 17, 2019 by Sub Editor Leave a Comment

With the January transfer window now in full swing, Buzz News looks at one player rumoured to be on their way to Bournemouth, and another who could be departing.

IN?

Chris Mepham:

Cherries boss Eddie Howe is looking to bolster his defensive options in the January transfer window and has turned to Brentford’s Welsh centre-half Chris Mepham.

The future of Nathan Aké could be in doubt amidst reports Chelsea may trigger the £40million buy-back clause that was put in place as part of the deal that saw the Dutchman join Bournemouth back in 2017.

The Cherries could be forced into finding a replacement and Mepham seems to be at the top of their wishlist.

According to reports, a deal is close for the 21-year-old, who has made 48 championship appearances, which would see him arrive at Vitality Stadium in a £15million deal.

OUT?

David Brooks:

Someone who AFC Bournemouth are desperate to keep hold of is winger David Brooks, who has been a revelation so far this season, scoring five goals in 19 Premier League appearances.

Having joined from Sheffield United in the summer of 2018 for a £11.5million fee, Brooks has gone from strength to strength and has reportedly attracted attention from Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

The two Premier League giants are interested in trying to make a £40million move for the Welshman happen this window, but it’s yet to be seen whether the 21-year-old could be tempted by a move away from the south coast.
