Dorset MPs back Theresa May as she survives ‘No Confidence’ vote last night

January 17, 2019 by subeditor1 Leave a Comment

All seven of Dorset’s MPs supported the Prime Minister in the No Confidence vote last night.

Both of Bournemouth’s MPs voted against Labour’s motion of no confidence.

Also backing the Prime Minister were Christopher Chope of Christchurch, Richard Drax of South Dorset, Simon Hoare of North Dorset, Robert Syms of Poole and Michael Tomlinson of Mid-Dorset and North Poole.

The vote of no-confidence in the government was rejected by 325 votes to 306.

MPs will now vote on the PM’s Plan B withdrawal deal on 29 January.

New research revealed today found that a majority of voters in Conservative held constituencies want the public to have the final say on Brexit. That is if the government can’t decide on a deal amongst themselves.

The analysis was conducted by market research company FocalData for the Best for Britain campaign.

A majority of voters in 290 of the 317 Tory-held seats back a public vote on the future of Brexit, that includes both Bournemouth constituencies.

Over 56% of voters in both areas support a public vote and over 53% of voters in Bournemouth believe leaving the EU without an agreed deal would be bad for Britain.

We’re interested to know whether you would like to see a public vote on the Brexit deal. So join in the debate and vote on our poll in the tweet below.

BREXIT: Conservative supporters have launched a ‘Right to Vote’ campaign in an attempt to give the public a final say on the Brexit deal.
