This week Michelle Rumney’s “The Map of Mundi” art exhibition launches at the Poole Lighthouse, exploring the medieval concept of time and space.
The exhibition, which will be on for the next month, looks at different themes every week and focuses on medieval mystery.
The opening week’s title is “How Long Is a Piece of String? – Medieval & Modern Measurements”.
Other themes include the way news travelled in medieval times, the changing landscape and how people travelled back then.
The title draws inspiration from the Mappa Mundi in Hereford’s Cathedral, the largest map of its kind dating back to 1290.
As well as being able to view her artwork, Rumney will also be at the Lighthouse, engaging with visitors and hosting a number of workshops for people to interact with.
The exhibition is free and runs until the 16th of February.
