A man caught driving with his hands cable-tied together has been branded “reckless and foolish.”

The 22-year-old man has been tried at Weymouth Magistrates court after being pulled over in June 2018 for dangerous driving.

Upon being pulled over the police noticed his hands were bound together and the man confessed he was attempting to drive ‘for a laugh’.

The incident happened in Gillingham, Dorset.

He admitted he had been driving dangerously and also that he was not insured to drive the car which belonged to his parents.

He was sentenced to 170 hours of unpaid work as well as ordered to pay a £420 fine. He is also banned from driving for 12 months.

Sergeant Mark Farrow of Dorset Police’s ‘No Excuse’ team said: “His actions that day were foolish and reckless. It is nothing but sheer luck that this mindless prank didn’t lead to a collision or someone getting injured.”
