“I think it’s frightening” – shocked West Moors residents react to Ladbrokes robbery

Shocked West Moors residents have reacted to last night’s news that a cleaver-wielding robber held up a local branch of betting shop Ladbrokes.

The incident happened at around 8pm yesterday, with the suspect threatening staff with a meat cleaver.

He made off with cash from the safe.

Buzz News reporter Emily Potter went out to gauge the feeling of residents following the incident.

Ken Burden, 68:

“Well, it just seems a shame really that it can happen in such a small village.

It’s not like it’s a large town because we are a little bit away from a lot of the bigger towns.

It’s such a shame they target a small company like that, I know that the company is a large company, but a small branch is what I should’ve said.”

Jenny Mills, 72:

“I think it’s frightening. You know, it’s a small village, always felt secure in the village. Very frightening and if they get these people they should come down a lot harder on them.”

Chris Wilson, 76:

“Well that’s the first I’ve heard of this robbery at Ladbrokes, I’m really absolutely disappointed because I always find that living in West Moors is a lovely sort of peaceful area and you don’t have things like that, so I’m really disappointed that’s happened actually.”
