With a chilling tale, intense scenes and harrowing motives; the opening night of the renowned play saw families and school groups fill the theatre.

On the 26th February the Art-Décor Theatre held the opening performance of the Bill Kenwright’s Blood Brother tour.

People of all ages were seen filling the seats of the theatre and waiting in anticipation to see the West End phenomenon hit their own town.

Jill Harris, regular theatre goer, attended the performance and said:

“I am expecting big things as I have only seen positive reviews. I’m so glad I am getting the opportunity to see it now it has come to Bournemouth.”

Cast members that were seen performing the play on the Pavilion stage included Linzi Hateley as Mrs Johnston, Robbie Scotcher as the Narrator and Alex Patmore as Mikey; all of whom have big performing backgrounds.

About the play

The Bill Kenwright production has exceeded 10,000 performances in London’s West End, and this is one of the only musicals to achieve this milestone.

The musical melodrama tells the heart-wrenching story of two twins separated at birth, who then find each other and become friends without knowing of their relation, and this leads to tragic consequences.

Set in Liverpool, the tale presents the lives of a working-class family and an upper-class family, displaying the struggles and differences they face.

Blood Brothers continues to be one of theatre’s favourite musicals, featuring powerful songs including “Marilyn Monroe”, “Shoes Upon the Table”, “Easy Terms” and “Tell Me It’s Not True”.

This years tour

The musical has come to Bournemouth as the first location of its tour and is being held at the Pavilion until the 02 March 2019.

At the end of the production, Mrs Harris said:

“It was better than I imagined it to be. I loved every minute of it and would come and see it again.”

The tour will visit 12 locations across the UK between the 26th February 2019- 12th October 2019 finishing in Birmingham.
